You throw the axe direction target, it's really not that complicated... but below video should explain it pretty well.
The "Pit" is the arena for throwing axes and it is laid out according to World Axe Throwing League's Lane rules.
Every pit contains 2 lanes with 3 differently colored lines on the ground.
The Yellow line is the "Fault Line" (12 ft / 3.65m ) and it must not be crossed during any throw or the throw will be invalid.
The thrower has to stand with one or both feet behind the Red "Throw Line" (15 ft / 4.57m) at the beginning of the throw.
When throwing a Big Axe the blue line becomes the "Throw Line" and the Red Line becomes the Fault Line.
Spectators and participants not currently throwing axes must stay outside of the pit demarked by the wooden tables while participants are throwing axes.
The target consists of a red bullseye surrounded by 5 rings. Additionally there are two kill shot markings in blue on the top left and right within the 5th ring.
Both participants in two adjacent lanes should throw their axes at the same time. For short axes, the participant should stand with one or both feet behind the Red Line at the beginning of the throw. The participant may step forward while throwing but not step over the yellow Fault Line.
The scores are as following:
Killshot: 8 Points
Red Bullseye: 6 Points
1st Ring: 5 Points
2nd Ring: 4 Points
3rd Ring: 3 Points
4th Ring: 2 Points
5th Ring: 1 Point
After both occupied lanes have thrown their axes, participants are permitted to retrieve their axes. Do NOT throw another axe on the target if there is an axe already in it - it might ricochet! You MUST wait until all participants are behind the Yellow Line before throwing the next axe!
Currently we offer the standard hatchet.
In the future we will add more to our arsenal, like knifes and even a sharpened spade for you to throw.
Axe throwing is a safe sport when these rules are being followed.
The minimum age to participate is 10. Any participant aged 10 - 15 has to be accompanied by an adult (18+).
To avoid feet injuries, closed shoes are required.
Food and drinks are not allowed inside the Pit. However, you are allowed to enjoy our snacks and beers on the tables in front of the pits!
Note: We reserve the right to expel anybody from the pits for safety reasons (e.g. intoxication).
